    Sachin Aggarwal and Alexander Salimian

This system enables the installation of 8–16+ chargers without costly electrical upgrades, offering steady low-power charging for commuters and premium high-power options for those needing more range, generating revenue for businesses.

By providing on-site charging, businesses can attract talent, promote a greener image, and make EV ownership more accessible to underserved communities. The goal is to deploy 100+ chargers in the first year, serve 500+ users monthly, and reduce over 1,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

    Our Why
“As aerospace engineers in Northeast Ohio, we’ve found that plugging in a car shouldn’t be as complicated as building an airplane. The platform aims to empower individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles, regardless of geographic or financial barriers, fostering stronger connections between communities and local food systems.

Rooted Market promotes food equity by reducing the gap in fresh food accessibility and encouraging sustainable, community-based solutions to improve overall health and well-being.

    Project BackUp

    Cole Zehe

Project BackUp is a community-focused initiative that will provide foster children in Northeast Ohio with high-quality backpacks for carrying their belongings, a common need in the area. The project sources new and lightly-used backpacks that were made as corporate swag and promotional giveaways, which often become unused and destined for landfills, to repurpose as new backpacks.

Through collection events, Project BackUp gathers these backpacks and conceals the old corporate logos using Velcro strips, allowing foster children to then personalize their bags with patches of their choice. This initiative not only supports local foster children by providing them with functional, personalized backpacks, but also fosters community collaboration by hosting events that encourage discussion, collection, and logo-neutralization. Additionally, Project BackUp helps reduce textile waste by repurposing these unused surplus backpacks.

    LI: Cole Zehe

    My Why
“I am thrilled to join together with dear friends and make an impact on our community of Northeast Ohio, as the Project Backup journey has begun. Events like Accelerate allow us to make an even greater change, by meeting new people, sharing ideas, and so much more. Our concept is simple — let’s take unused backpacks from the floors of our closets, and put them on the backs of foster children who need them.”

    Treats for All

    Ryan Zapolski and Ryan Sowers

Treats for All (TFA) is an initiative designed to make Halloween accessible for all children, regardless of mobility, sensory sensitivities, or dietary restrictions. The event will take place annually at a local track, providing a wheelchair-friendly environment. Sensory-friendly zones will offer a calm atmosphere, while allergy-friendly treats and alternative options cater to diverse needs. Local businesses and community organizations will sponsor decorated booths, distributing candy, treats, or small toys. Volunteers and EMS professionals will ensure safety throughout the event. TFA aims to create an inclusive Halloween experience with no entry fees, ensuring every child in Greater Cleveland can participate and feel celebrated. This initiative combines community spirit with corporate support to foster a safe, accessible, and joyful holiday for all.

    From Trash to Triumph!

    Drevian Arrington and Andre Willis

The Youth Development and Employment Program (YDEP) by The Trash Boys seeks to reduce youth crime in Cleveland by offering positive opportunities to young Black males. With 85% of youth-related crimes involving Black males, YDEP aims to break the cycle of negative influences and replace it with structure, empowerment, and growth.

Participants engage in hands-on fieldwork such as trash collection and curbside services, learning responsibility, hard work, and moral integrity. Mentored through structured phases, participants learn the value of community care and gain a sense of purpose and pride in their achievements. Jobs are assigned and progress is tracked through the TrashDash mobile app, which helps teens develop a community-focused mindset, a strong work ethic, accountability, and time management skills.

By redirecting energy into structured employment, the program aims to reduce crime, foster future leaders, and build a stronger, safer Cleveland.

    Our Why
“The Trash Boys are passionate about what we do because we’ve experienced the challenges of growing up in communities with limited opportunities for teens, especially young Black males. We want to change the narrative by showing that hard work, leadership, and community care can create brighter futures. Our mission is to lead by example, inspire change, and open doors for others to rise above societal expectations and succeed. Turning trash into Triumph!”

    Girls Play Too

    Tiffany Ashley and Rosale’ Ward

Girls Play Too is a proposed girls’ basketball skills camp and intramural games aims to introduce young girls, ages 3-10, to basketball techniques, fitness, and self-esteem building. The camp will be free of charge and rotate quarterly around Northeast Ohio, providing opportunities for girls across Cleveland to engage in early fitness, learn basketball, and build confidence at a pivotal age. With the support of eight volunteers experienced in playing and coaching women’s basketball, the initiative seeks funding for equipment and gym space. The program’s goal is to empower young girls through sports, fostering physical activity and a positive self-image.

    Our Why
“We are two women who have worked with youth over 20 years, specifically girls. We both have a love for sports and know the positive influence participating in organized sports can bring to little girls. Teaching little girls ways to exercise, snack, building self esteem, and ultimately learn positive habits at a pivotal age.”

    My Why

    The NeuroSpicy Nook

    Juliet Penrod

The NeuroSpicy Nook is a community-focused space for neurodivergent women and adults, addressing the underdiagnosis of conditions like ADHD and autism, particularly among women. Many current diagnostic tools are based on symptoms experienced by white males, which can lead to misdiagnosis or missed diagnoses in others. The Nook provides a safe, inclusive environment where neurodivergent individuals can find support and resources. Currently, the initiative offers paid downloads for organizational tools, clothing, fidgets, and other items designed to support neurodivergent needs. The goal is to expand into adult- and corporate-friendly fidgets, home and office restructuring tools, and innovative tech/AI products, tailored to the specific needs of the neurodivergent community in Cleveland and beyond.

    My Why
“As the founder of The NeuroSpicy Nook, I’m passionate about creating products that bring success and joy to neurodivergent individuals. I am a current MBA student at Baldwin Wallace University specializing in Business Analytics. Diagnosed with ADHD in college, I deeply understand the unique challenges and strengths of neurodivergent adults. I chose to pitch at Accelerate Cleveland because I believe in fostering inclusion and innovation in our community, and this platform provides the opportunity to grow our mission. I’m excited to share how we’re making a difference for neurodivergent adults with products designed for self-expression and focus.”

Most of the ideas presented at Accelerate are in the early stage of development and the presenters do not have business plans or implementation timelines. The goal of Accelerate is to help them begin the process of bringing their ideas to reality. If a pitch resonated with you, you can help bring it to life by connecting with the presenter(s) at the event or post-event to offer advice, funding, or a connection. You may be the deciding factor in bringing that project to reality.
